South Korea & Japan

South Korea beat Greece 2-0.

Japan beat Cameroon 1-0

That's great isn't it? Knowing our fellow Asian beating reasonably good teams like Greece ( ex-european champion) and Cameroon.

These two teams i.e South Korea & Japan, especially South Korea, used to be our football team mortal enemies. I wrote in my earlier blogs, we can match them those days. I think that was 30 years ago. The scores will be tight as hell and the game will be very close.

Fast forward to 2010, from beating Malaysia to beating the Greek, what has South Korea done right and where has it gone wrong for us?

Just look at their fans below:

That's a lot of people eh? I can't imagine the time when we, all Malaysians unite as one to cheer our football team.

The other day, I saw a news where this Malaysian dude, proudly show off his newly done Brazil tattoo and mentioned that he is the Brazil no 1 fan. Well, the fact remains is, he is a Malaysian.

It's such a sad thing to know that our football standards has remained stagnant since the 70s. South Korea, Japan, China, Iraq and the lot has improved so great that we are no longer a match for them. We even lose to the Philippines at one time. Imagine that, we have players who are paid to play and train football everyday can't even beat the filipinos. Sad isn't it??. I think now, we can't even beat Fiji or Mauritius.

Anyways, no point saying it over and over again. I still hope that one day we can have a decent team to play in the Asian Cup as well as the world cup. I hope that we can have a team of passionate footballers who will fight for the country. We've won the SEA games recently and the next step is to be in the Asian Cup 2015. Time is on our side to prepare for the Asian Cup. THat's like another 5 years. Begin the search for good players from now and get the basic necessities right.

We can always choose to remain where we are now and talk about glory days in the 70s or we choose to change our attitude and have an aim. If we can do that, our football standards will improve. I wish not to go into our domestic league. To be frank, the league is not as great as what it used to be during the Semi-Pro era. Those days were good....heheheheh

Have a nice day!!
